Undergraduate Academic Coaches meet one-on-one with students on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to help them develop their academic skills and understand the expectations of academic work. Academic coaches assist students in establishing effective study, organizational, and planning habits; guide students to develop effective problem-solving, goal-setting, and self-advocacy skills; refer students to available campus resources; document sessions and refer to records of prior sessions on a regular basis; and attend training/professional development events.
Academic coaches earn $15/hour and typically work 5-10 hours per week; the hours are flexible and can be scheduled around other obligations.
Who can apply:
Undergraduate students from all academic majors are eligible to apply. We particularly welcome applicants who
- are rising juniors or seniors
- have demonstrable study skills
- are adept at problem solving
- have strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
