Graduate Academic Coaches meet one-on-one with students on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to help them develop their academic skills and understand the expectations of academic work. Academic coaches assist students in establishing effective study, organizational, and planning habits; guide students to develop effective problem-solving, goal-setting, and self-advocacy skills; refer students to available campus resources; document sessions and refer to records of prior sessions on a regular basis; and attend training/professional development events.
Graduate Academic Coaching positions are Teaching Assistantships; they carry stipends, tuition remission and benefits in accordance with the current TUGSA contract. We offer half-time (10 hours per week ) positions. The work hours are flexible and can be scheduled around other obligations.
Who can apply:
Ph.D./Ed.S./Ed.D. students from all academic disciplines are eligible to apply. We particularly welcome applicants who have
- completed their doctoral coursework
- academic training in education or psychology
- strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
