Writing Tutors

We will be hiring new undergraduate writing tutors to start in Fall 2026! We will be accepting applications from Wednesday, April 15, until Friday, May 8. Please follow our Instagram and/or sign up for our newsletter for the most up-to-date announcements on future job opportunities.

The application form (Microsoft Form) for Fall 2026 will become available on April 15, 2026. Please note that applications submitted by email before this date will not be considered.

Undergraduate writing tutors meet one-on-one with Temple students from all different majors and programs, with all different types of writing. A typical day may have you brainstorming about virtue in The Epic of Gilgamesh, jointly crafting a catchy opening for a study abroad essay to Tokyo, or helping streamline a business proposal for a food truck startup.

Writing tutors start at $15/hour and typically work 4-12 hours per week; the hours are flexible and can be scheduled around other obligations.

Who can apply:

All undergraduate students (any major, any department) are eligible to apply. You must be able to work from Charles Library on Temple's main campus in Philadelphia. We seek students who are strong academic writers, as evidenced by their writing samples. We particularly welcome applicants who

  • have previous experience tutoring or teaching,
  • are active leaders on campus,
  • are empathetic listeners, and
  • enjoy working one-on-one and with a team in a fast-paced environment.

How to apply:

Complete the application form and submit the following materials (through the form):

  • Cover Letter
  • Résumé
  • 3 recent academic writing samples (from Temple coursework only)

Application Deadline:

We will begin accepting applications on Wednesday, April 15. Applications will be due on Friday, May 8, at 8:00am.
